Verso again signed, inscribed and titled ”[K]arl Sodemann. M1316 Kieselbach Post Vacha/Rhön” with black felt-tip pen. Framed in a simple metal leaf frame. The work has not been unframed. Paint layer lower right slightly rubbed with some material loss. Frame with isolated bumps at the edges. Dimensions: 66 x 85.9 cm, frame 68.8 x 88.9 cm. Karl Sodemann 1888 Berlin – 1953 Eisenach Initially learned painting in his parents' business. Studied painting in Berlin and Munich. Moved to Thuringia in 1922. Worked, among other things, as a miner, powder manufacturer, film projectionist and vocational school teacher to finance his artistic work.
