Berlin 1951. p. 13, cat. no. 26. Small canvas deformation in the upper center of the red architectural element. Paint support verso partially with slightly penetrated binder. Paint layer with a few small retouches at the lower left edge of the image, in the area of the archway and the speaker's left shoulder. In the area of the yellow skirt of the left female figure, a slight, light grey trace of paint. Varying surface gloss inherent to the work. The central stretcher bars and some wedges supplemented. Tiny paint layer breakouts at the horizontal seam at the lower edge of the image. Dimensions: 120 x 160 cm, frame 124 x 164 cm. Johannes Beutner 1890 Cunnersdorf/Saxon Switzerland – 1960 Dresden 1903–05 drawing lessons with Richard Müller in Loschwitz. 1905–06 attended the Art Academy with Robert Sterl. Afterwards apprenticeship and activity as a color etcher and chemographer, at the same time amateur bicycle racer. 1915–18 soldier. 1920–24 again at the Art Academy with Otto Hettner, later master student with Ludwig von Hofmann. 1932 in the artist circle ”Die aufrechten Sieben”, freelance. 1936 denounced as ”degenerate”. Worked as a travelling salesman, advertising painter, turner and toolmaker. 1945 loss of his studio with almost all works. 1951–57 artistically active in the reconstruction of Dresden and Berlin.
