Verso titled and signed again ”ERICH FRAASS DRESDEN ''Bäurin''” (sic!) and with the label of Kunstausstellung Kühl, Dresden. Framed in a black-painted moulding. WVZ Hebecker 815. Provenance: Saxon private collection; Kunstausstellung Kühl, Dresden, 2020; artist's estate. The work was not unframed. Image carrier minimally warped. Paint layer rubbed in the edge area. A tiny inherent pinhole in the sky upper right. Dimensions: 60 x 50 cm, frame 68 x 58 cm. Erich Fraaß 1893 Glauchau – 1974 Dresden 1907–10 apprenticeship as a lithographer, 1910–14 studies at the School of Applied Arts and the Art Academy Dresden with O. Zwintscher. Fraaß volunteered for military service. 1919–22 master student of Robert Sterl. 1920 marriage to his wife Grete, in the same year study trip to Holland. 1924 painting trip with artist colleagues to the Bohemian Forest. 1925 study trip to Spain. 1926 stay in Tyrol. 1927–29 stays in Leipzig. Gouache sheets of the Leipzig floodplain landscape and studies in the Leipzig Zoo were created. 1931 co-founder and chairman of the Dresdner Sezession. 1945 destruction of the studio during the bombing and destruction of many of his works. 1953–58 professor of painting at the Dresden Art Academy. 1959 Art Prize of the City of Dresden.
