Titled, dated and extensively inscribed on the reverse. Framed in a brown strip. WVZ Horlbeck-Kappler 336, there deviatingly described as ”monogrammed and dated lower left GH 90”. Slightly foxed. Frame slightly bumped. Dimensions: 50 x 60 cm, frame 54 x 64 cm. Günter Horlbeck 1927 Reichenbach (Vogtland) – 2016 Leipzig German painter and graphic artist. Completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer from 1942–47, which was interrupted by conscription into the military. He then studied until 1951 at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, under Walter Arnold, Max Schwimmer, and Ernst Hassebrauk. From 1952, friendship with Max Schwimmer. Afterwards, he worked as a freelance artist. Taught from 1952–93 at the HfBK Dresden. His works can be assigned to Abstract Expressionism. Role models were Beckmann, Picasso, and Kandinsky.
