Extensively inscribed in felt-tip pen on the reverse of the stretcher. Side fold area inscribed and dimensioned in pencil. Small deformations and soiling in the corners. Dimensions: 120 x 100 cm. Günter Horlbeck 1927 Reichenbach (Vogtland) – 2016 Leipzig German painter and graphic artist. Completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer from 1942–47, which was interrupted by conscription into the military. He then studied until 1951 at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, under Walter Arnold, Max Schwimmer, and Ernst Hassebrauk. From 1952, friendship with Max Schwimmer. Afterwards, he worked as a freelance artist. Taught from 1952–93 at the HfBK Dresden. His works can be assigned to Abstract Expressionism. Role models were Beckmann, Picasso, and Kandinsky.
