Siegfried Klotz 1939 Oberschlema – 2004 Dresden 1954–57 Apprenticeship as a decorative painter. 1957–65 Painter's journeyman in Reichenbach im Vogtland. 1958–64 Studied at the School of Painting and Drawing Zwickau with Prof. Carl Michel. 1965–70 Studied at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Prof. Rudolf Bergander and Prof. Jutta Damme. Subsequently, until 1974, postgraduate studies in painting also with Prof. Jutta Damme in Dresden. During his studies, he met the graphic artist and painter Prof. Bernhard Kretzschmar, who later became a close friend. 1985–92 Lecturer for painting at the Dresden University of Fine Arts, where he subsequently became a professor of painting until the end of his life. From the 1970s, exhibitions, including 1982 solo exhibition ”Siegfried Klotz. Paintings and Drawings”, Dresden University of Fine Arts, 1989 ”Siegfried Klotz”, Samuelis Baumgarte Galerie, Bielefeld, 2003 Municipal Collections Freital. Awards, including 1978 Max-Lingner-Prize of the German Academy of Arts of the GDR, 1988 Art Prize of the GDR, 2001 Art Prize of the State Capital Dresden.
