Since 1932 in Dresden, where he initially studied with Woldemar Winkler, then at the Dresden Academy with Willy Kriegel. From 1936 self-employed in Dresden. 1941–45 military service on the Western Front and in Denmark. Traumatic experiences in the war, loss of a brother. 1947 co-founder of the artist group ”Das Ufer-Gruppe 1947”, 1949 withdrawal from the artist group. 1972 retrospective exhibition on the occasion of his 60th birthday at the Galerie Neue Meister, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Nehmer primarily painted still lifes and portraits, provided with finely accentuated polarizing metaphors from the realm of nature and human work, often depicting people from his biographical environment.
