Schultz-Liebisch 1974”. Framed in a gray molding behind glass in a passe-partout. In the edge areas, the paint layer is abraded and shows material loss, the varnish is partially uneven. Dimensions: 29.7 x 23.9 cm, frame 41.5 x 35.8 cm. Paul Schultz-Liebisch 1905 Reinickendorf – 1996 Berlin-Pankow German painter and graphic artist. Learned the profession of decorative painter. Pursued his artistic career as an autodidact on the advice of the German painter Hans Baluschek, a member of the Berlin Secession. Joined the KPD at the age of 21. Worked as a stage painter in the Ufa film studio in Berlin-Tempelhof. Painting ban by the National Socialist regime. Lived in Berlin-Wedding and Reinickendorf until 1944, almost complete loss of his oeuvre due to bombardments. Political activity in the resistance group around Robert Uhrig. Drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944, whereupon he soon deserted and hid until the end of the war. Moved to Berlin-Pankow in 1946 and resumed his artistic work. 1945–49 creation of the cycle ''Des Wahnsinns Ende'' (The End of Madness), in which he processed his war experiences. Left the SED in 1951 due to restrictions on artistic freedom. Friendship with Paul Kuhfuss, Heinrich Burkhardt, Arno Mohr, Fritz Duda and Paul Rosié.
