Charles V - Parchment Document - Charles V. (Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and first King of Spain; 1500–1558). Handwritten document in brown ink on parchment. Dated December 6, 1531. With an initial colored in brown or gold and blue, bearing the king's portrait, and in the center a coat of arms in red, blue, and gold. 44 x 54 cm. Folded. Charles V grants the de Stocho family, in person Fernando de Stocho, permission to add an eagle to their coat of arms. - The document was written and authenticated by Juan de Comalonga, Charles V's secretary for Catalan affairs. - Titled in another hand on the reverse and bearing a monogram. - A few small holes and tears along the folds, some (damp) staining, the initial and coat of arms slightly rubbed, the gold partially oxidized.
