Schwamborn - 35 letters - Schwamborn, Heinz (Actor and director). Approximately 35 handwritten letters to Schwamborn, including 23 letters from his uncle Emil and 6 letters from his parents. Mostly from Elberfeld, 1906-21. Each letter is 2-7 pages long, printed on 1-2 double sheets. Mostly in addressed envelopes with a stamp and postmark 'Elberfeld'. After studying in Heidelberg, Heinz Schwamborn worked as a dramaturge in Dilsberg, Düsseldorf, Tilsit, Aachen, and Itzehoe. In his letters, his uncle urgently urges his nephew to cut his expenses, earn money, and get his life in order: 'With the amount your father spends, you've already used up over 11,500 marks in the last three years, including my subsidies...' (letter dated April 10, 1911); 'And how's the doctoral dissertation coming along—asked for the fourth time now...' (July 24, 1911). He emphasizes these demands with numerous underlines, also writing 'Uncle W.' is involved, he 'will sort it out'. - Also included are 7 letters from his girlfriend Kleischen Obermeyer as well as 1 handwritten letter and 1 postcard from Heinz Schwamborn himself: the card to Uncle Emil ('Received 300 marks immediately and also paid...'), in the letter he rebukes a Mr. Reul, who has treated his former girlfriend Leni (also Schwamborn's colleague) disgracefully. - The envelopes are each marked 'settled' by Schwamborn with the notation 'erl.' and the corresponding date.
