Bidspirit auction | Stamp trinket box

Stamp trinket box - Postage stamps. Stamp in the form of a fringe, worn loosely on a watch chain. Russia, circa 1880. Nickel and brass. With a mounted, embossed metal plate on the lid. 4 x 2 x 1 cm. The nickel tin with rounded corners contains the remains of the ink pad. The brass plate, attached to it by a hinge and spring clip, displays a 7-kopeck stamp as a positive image on the outside. The reverse negative image, unfolded and coated with ink, is used as a stamp. It likely belonged, along with a service watch, to the standard equipment of an Imperial Russian postmaster. Slightly worn.
