Chain book cover - Bindings.- Blind-tooled leather band over wooden covers with 8 chased brass fittings with bosses at the corners, 2 chased brass clasps, and 2 further brass fittings in the center of the upper front and back covers, each with a loop to which a chain is attached. Probably 17th century. Approx. 17.5 x 26 cm (open). The Christogram 'IHS' is on both covers, the corner fittings each with a small monogram 'I*R'. The chain connects the front and back covers. The spine has been restored using the original material.
