Brace of Silver Inlaid & Engraved Flintlock Cavalry Pistols, Late 18th c.
Brace of large European cavalry pistols for the Ottoman market, circa 1780-1825. Walnut stocked profusely inlaid in silver decoration with floral motifs and wood carved panoply of arms. Trigger guard in brass to one and steel the other, each engraved (NONONO). Round barrels with relief decoration in steel and inscribed with additional writing. Barrel stuck with hammer mark of a crown over inverted (P) and (I). Especially finely made flintlock mechanism with fine European quality engraving matching remainder. Size 19" L, barrel 12 1/4" L, barrel width .65"
