French Naval Sword w/ Scabbard, Circa 1850's - Attractive antique French naval sword with scabbard. Blade a straight single edge with shallow fuller length of the blade. Fine and brightly gilt brass guard and handle with pierced openwork. Downturned quillion in zoomorphic form. Guard to hand with wrapped patterns and a suspended sword knot on long strand. Handle in horn with grooves. Fitted pommel with foliate patterns. Size 34 3/4” L, blade 27 1/2” L Ex-Southern California Estate Condition: original leather scabbard. Wear overall commensurate with age and use.
