Straight Moro Kris with Cacatua Pommel, pre-1900's - Straight Moro kris featuring a cockatoo hilt with original ratan hilt wrap in good condition. Single asang or blade clamp. Double-edge blade with visible signs of delamination. Cocatau hilt in fruit wood. The Moro people of the southern Philippines resisted Spanish colonialists who tried to eliminate their ”heresy”. The Moros allowed the Spanish to build forts in the Sultanate of Sulu in the last quarter of the century but Spanish control remained limited to military stations, garrisons and civilian settlements. Size 27 3/4” L, blade 22 1/2” L Condition: Small cracks on cockatoo. Original ratan hilt wrap in good condition.
