Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword, circa 1540 - All-original Landsknecht Katzbalger arming sword, circa 1540. Short and wide double-edged blade with a very shallow fuller to the back section (very sharp). Marked to the ricasso with an armorers mark. Obvious signs of age and delamination. Distinctive S-Shaped figure either guard in steel with spherical quillion ends. Original leather grip over formed wood core with later repairs or sealing to prevent cracking(Sections of the underside visible). Pommel a semi domed cap with single spherical end, notched at the pommel on one side. Size 28 1/2” L, blade 22” L Ex-Old Southern California Collection Condition: Good condition overall commensurate with age and use
