Japanese Wakizashi Sword & Scabbard, Shinto Period 1597-1780 - Japanese Wakizashi sword with scabbard, Shinto period (Late Sword Period 1597-1780). Fine condition handle with white ray skin grip tightly wrapped in black fabric. Menuki of floral motifs in black lacquer and gold depicting leaves or mon. Pommel finely made depicting a scene of the gilt rising moon over a landscape in black lacquer. Fuchi in matching black lacquer and polished gilt bronze depicting cherry blossom trees and bamboo. Flat tsuba with mountain scene in matching style. Fine matching signed Kozuka knife recessed into scabbard with black lacquered scene of traveling figures in mixed metal. Reverse an engraved scene of figures in procession. Single edge very sharp blade. Wakizashi blade with original sleeve and fine finish and clearly visible Ha & Hada.
