Japanese Jingasa Helmet - Japan, Edo period 1603-1868 black lacquered jingasa helmet. Comprised of a series of black lacquered plates riveted together with a wide brim and gilt decorated Mon in front. On the underside a vibrant red and spotted gold lacquer decoration and paint with thick cotton pad and ties. The underside also features loops for suspension of an object or additional defensive attachment. Size 13 1/2” W Ex-Southern California Collection Condition: Wear overall commensurate with age and use
