French XIII Model 1811 Calvary Pistol w/Napoleonic Era Percussion Conversion - Percussion conversion with a light wood body with brass trim. The Model 1811 pistol was used extensively by the French military during the Napoleonic Wars (early 19th century). The pistol was developed during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte as a replacement for the earlier flintlock pistols used by the French military. It was designed to incorporate advancements in firearm technology, including the use of percussion caps to ignite the gunpowder. The standard caliber for the Model 1811 pistol It saw service in various campaigns, including the Peninsular War, the Russian Campaign, and the Waterloo Campaign. After Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, the Model 1811 pistol remained in use with French military units for some time. Size 14” L, barrel 7 3/4” L, smooth barrel of .70 caliber bore. Condition: Wear and surface scratches commensurate with age.
