Philippines Burnished & Tattooed Shield, Circa 1920-40's - Philippines archipelagos, Northen Luzon, Cordillera Mountain Range, Ifugao / Igorot / Tinguian peoples status shield, circa 1920 - 1940's. Beautifully tattooed all over with opposing half moons and bands of horizontal lines mixed with innumerable tattooed circle forms. Opined by now deceased Bill Evans, editor of ”War Art & Ritual / Shields From the Pacific” and a leading authority as early 20th century.
