Massive Ramu River Shield, PNG - Massive Papua New Guinea wood carved shield with a flat base and slightly tapered top. The face of the shield with a silver white paint over a pecked & geometric carved design. Probably Ramu River. Size 54” H x 19 1/2” W Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials. Condition: period split and repair just off center. Loss of band to piercing. Wear throughout commensurate with age and use.
