African Upwal Hide Shield, 20th Century - Wonderful hand made small Toposa / Turkana shield known as an upwal, with a vertical wood shaft with hide stretched in a vertical rectangle that doubles as a handle. Bound with fishtail braided leather strips to the wood shaft with an extra hide pad where the holders knuckles would be. Size 18” L x 12” W Condition: Beautiful preserved condition with wonderful patina throughout.
