Fine Hanovarian Army Sword, Circa 1750-1770 - Fine and well polished example of a Hanovarian army sword. American War of Independence circa 1750 - 1770. Hand peened pommel with the crown reverse. Grip in original gilt brass twisted wire. Distinctive gilt brass guard with single straight quillion, right angled D shaped guard with two bars one from a shell and termination at fitted pommel. Shell with a characteristic steed in stride with a stippled background design. Straight double edged blade with diamond cross-section. Size 34” L, blade 28” L, weight 732g Ex-Southern California Estate Condition: Very good and well polished overall, signs of delamination and wear commensurate with age and use
