Fine Pair of Brass Harpocrates Bookends on Marble - Lovely pair of brass cast statues of Harpocrates on lovely Italian marble bases. Classically depicted in the nude with a double crown, his right hand raised to his lips as a form of silence and secrecy. Harpocrates was considered a deity of secrecy, mystery, and new beginnings, and his statues were placed in temples and places of mystery to signify the importance of silence. Size of each 5 1/2” H x 3 1/4” L Condition: Wear and patina from age and use, else in overall good condition.
