African Terracotta Pedestal Offering Bowl - Africa, probably West Africa, possibly ancient. Terracotta pedestal vessel of elegant flared form, with a broad circular foot rising to a narrow tapering stem and shallow open bowl. The exterior rim is decorated with a fine impressed or punctate border, the surface with grey-brown burnished patina, mineral deposits, and age-related abrasions throughout. Size 10” H x 10” W. Condition:Shows age, surface wear, abrasions, mineral deposits, and firing irregularities throughout. Visible cracks to bowl and foot, with small losses and chips to rim and edges. Stable overall. Ex-Palm Springs Estate. Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials. Condition: Top bowl broken from stem and repaired, multiple cracks.
