Pair of Cameroon Grassfields Beaded Palace or Shrine Panels - Africa, Cameroon, Bamileke or related Grassfields peoples. Pair of large bead-covered textile panels, likely intended as palace, shrine, or ceremonial decorative hangings. Each panel is densely worked with applied glass beads in high relief, showing rows of blue anthropomorphic figures with multicolored faces above green fields populated by zoomorphic and symbolic motifs, including lions or leopards, lizards, birds, and other stylized animals. The compositions are framed by geometric beadwork borders in red, black, yellow, turquoise, and white, creating a strong architectural rhythm across the surface. The reverse retains woven textile backing with linear turquoise and dark striping. Size: 65 3/4” H x 27 1/2” W each. Ex-Tennessee Estate by descent. Family collection of an esteemed diplomat and ambassador amassed during travel and work circa 1960-1990s in the medical field providing charitable advanced medical care throughout the African continent and internationally. Condition: Age-related wear, staining, bead losses, loose threads, and fraying to borders, with some separations and repairs visible throughout.
