Pair of Tankil Armbands, Bontoc Peoples 19th C. - Philippines, Bontoc Peoples, Pair of Rare Tankil Warriors Armbands 19th century. Pair of circular armbands formed from boar tusks, each circular form and fitted with projecting Nara wood carved Bulul terminals. The surfaces exhibit natural banding and tonal variation, with areas of darkened patina. Sections of the rings are wrapped with fiber rattan bindings, securing the joins and adding textural contrast.
