Cast bronze figural sculpture depicting a seated mother holding a child, the mother adorned with elaborate body ornamentation and jewelry throughout. The work reflects the Yoruba artistic emphasis on maternity, fertility, lineage, and protective maternal authority, themes commonly expressed through mother-and-child imagery in West African sculpture.
