Vintage African Kuba Tribe Ceremonial Sword - Central Africa, 19th - Early 20th Century. A forged iron ceremonial blade of broad, flared form, tapering to a narrow tang and fitted with a wrapped grip. The blade is hammered from a single piece of iron, exhibiting a central medial ridge and a widening, spatulate terminal, characteristic of prestige and display weapons from Central Africa. The surface shows a dark, aged patina with areas of oxidation and wear consistent with age and handling. Subtle hammer marks and forging irregularities remain visible. The handle is bound with tightly wound metal wire over a wooden core. Blades of this type are often associated with ceremonial or status functions rather than practical combat, serving as symbols of authority, wealth, or social identity within their respective cultures.
