Nok Terracotta Male Figure - Nigeria, Nok Culture, circa 500 BCE-200 CE. A terracotta male figure with elongated cylindrical body, rounded base, and highly stylized facial features characteristic of Nok sculptural tradition. The figure is modeled with almond-shaped pierced eyes beneath incised brows, a pronounced nose, pursed mouth, rounded ears, and a high rounded coiffure or cap. The torso is defined by applied arms held close to the body, with textured wrist and neck ornaments and simplified anatomical detailing. The surface shows a reddish-brown fired clay body with granular texture and age-related encrustation throughout. Mounted on a custom black display stand. Approximately 20 in.
