Finely Carved Jade Bok Choy
Bok Choy Jade Carving. While this cabbage might seem humble, in Chinese culture it actually represents prosperity. The cabbage was likely meant as an allegory of female virtue, its dazzling white stalk symbolizing purity; the deep green leaves, fertility, and abundance. This example is formed from a luminous consistent apple green with moderate saturation, with elements of white and cream jade inclusions across the back. Dimensions: 8 x 6 inches e. Finley carved, the upper right leaf pedal has been damaged resulting in part of the pedal missing.
