Johnny Mathis – Johnny’s Greatest Hits (Columbia Records, CS 8634, Stereo) - This is a vintage stereo pressing of Johnny’s Greatest Hits by Johnny Mathis, released by Columbia Records under catalog number CS 8634. This album is notable for being one of the earliest ”greatest hits” compilations and was a commercial success, staying on the Billboard charts for nearly a decade. The cover features a bold design with Mathis' name in large letters and a Sears price sticker still affixed. The album includes classic tracks such as: ”Chances Are” ”The Twelfth of Never” ”When Sunny Gets Blue” ”It’s Not for Me to Say” ”Wonderful! Wonderful!” And more... This particular pressing is electronically re-channeled for stereo, a method used in the late 1950s and 1960s to convert mono recordings to simulated stereo. The original release was in mono (CL 1133), with this stereo version catering to later audio trends. Condition (Based on Visual Inspection): Vinyl Record: Appears to be in very good to excellent condition, with no visible deep scratches or damage. Some surface wear may be present. Outer Sleeve: Still in original shrink wrap, preserving most of its integrity. Minor shelf wear on corners. The Sears sticker remains intact, adding to the vintage appeal. Inner Sleeve: Original paper sleeve is present, showing light age-related discoloration. Labels: Columbia red label with ”Stereo 360 Sound” branding, clear and legible. Additional Notes: This is a collectible vintage LP, especially desirable in its stereo format with original shrink wrap. A great addition for Johnny Mathis fans and vinyl collectors alike!
