Description:
ORIGINAL 1970 Pontiac GTO Humbler VOE
ORIGINAL 1970 Pontiac GTO VOE – Genuine California-Built GTO, Ram Air “Humbler” Style Performance mileage: 30,464 vin: 242370Z135214 In 1970, Pontiac aired a bold commercial during Super Bowl IV showcasing the GTO “Humbler” equipped with the rare Vacuum Operated Exhaust (VOE) option. The ad highlighted the car’s ability to switch to a louder, more aggressive exhaust at the pull of a knob—an effect executives at General Motors felt came too close to encouraging street racing. As a result, the commercial was quickly pulled, and the VOE option was abruptly discontinued. Produced only in late 1969 and early 1970, it is estimated that only 233 GTO Humblers with VOE were ever built. This is your opportunity to own a truly scarce and storied piece of automotive history. This 1970 Pontiac GTO is an authentic example of one of the most iconic muscle cars ever built, produced at the Fremont, California assembly plant and confirmed by its VIN (242370Z135214) as a genuine GTO—not a clone.Representing the height of Pontiac’s muscle car dominance, this GTO showcases the legendary styling of 1970 with its dual hood scoops, Endura nose, and aggressive stance. It’s in the spirit of a Ram Air “Rumbler”–style configuration, delivering the deep, unmistakable exhaust note and performance character that defined Pontiac’s glory years.Powered by the 400 cubic-inch V8, this GTO offers strong, smooth power and that distinct low-end torque muscle car enthusiasts love. It runs and drives with confidence, delivering a commanding sound and road feel that matches its bold appearance. The body lines are sharp, and the car sits correctly with period-style wheels and trim. Inside, the interior retains its classic Pontiac character—driver-focused, clean, and true to the era.Whether admired for its authenticity, muscle car heritage, or its rare “Rumbler” setup, this 1970 Pontiac GTO stands as a powerful symbol of American performance—one that turns heads, sounds incredible, and remains a highly desirable collector-grade classic. provenance: This vehicle, along with all others in this auction, is part of a single-owner collection started after 1985. Many of the titles and descriptions were created through a combination of research, Computer Intuitive Intelligence (based on each vehicle’s VIN), and personal inspection. Every car has been thoroughly examined by the consignor’s master mechanic. While we strive to provide the most accurate descriptions possible, bidders are strongly encouraged to use their own expertise and knowledge to assess the completeness and accuracy of each listing before bidding.
