Bidspirit auction | Antique Redware Handled Ovoid Jar
Antique Redware Handled Ovoid Jar (1800s) - 9.25 inches tall. 2 distinctive lines that go around the jar. One is an inch below the rim and the another 3.5 inches below the rim. On the bottom i can make out stamping of a ”P” and possibly a ”P” stamp at 3 o'clock and another at 9 o'clock. The 9 o'clock stamping might have a ”E” stamping above it. Hard to tell exactly. Traces of early gold paint all over. Numerous rim chips top and bottom. Really nice ovoid shape to it.Provenance:Acquired from a single owner private estate collection originating in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The collection was carefully stored in Slatington, Pennsylvania for approximately five years prior to being consigned to the auction house. The consignor noted that the collection had long-standing ties to the Gettysburg region, reflecting a deep appreciation for historical preservation and Americana. This fresh-to-market estate offering presents an exceptional opportunity for collectors, as the items have remained largely untouched in storage for several years before entering the auction market.
