Bidspirit auction | 1800s Leather Field Surgeon Bag

1800s Leather Field Surgeon Bag - My guess made for a field surgeon or veterinary doctor. Top lid has slots for tools. No tools included. No markings. Large brass or copper rivets on the edges. Size is roughly 6.5 x 6.5 x 16 inches. Leather has stiffness in areas. Buckle strap is missing. Back panel has the word Dick on it. Top lid has letters CO. No known history. Provenance: Acquired from a single owner private estate collection originating in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The collection was carefully stored in Slatington, Pennsylvania for approximately five years prior to being consigned to the auction house. The consignor noted that the collection had long-standing ties to the Gettysburg region, reflecting a deep appreciation for historical preservation and Americana. This fresh-to-market estate offering presents an exceptional opportunity for collectors, as the items have remained largely untouched in storage for several years before entering the auction market.
