Operating a foundry in Mexico City, Mendoza developed a distinctive cloisonné technique, incorporating turquoise and other colorful stones into elaborate metalwork. His designs often featured exuberant forms and vibrant inlays, blending traditional Mexican motifs with mid-century modern aesthetics. Mendoza's work included collaborations with prominent designers such as T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and Jerome and Evelyn Ackerman, producing hardware and decorative elements that contributed to the unique style of West Coast modernism.
