Unframed: 17” × 14” Untitled (Seated Nude) Medium: Pastel and pencil on rice paper.   Condition: Overall toning to the paper, more pronounced along the upper edge, with minor undulation present.   Bio: Milton Avery (1885–1965) was an American modern painter known for his bold use of color and simplified forms. Active primarily in New York during the mid-20th century, Avery developed a style that bridged American Impressionism, Fauvism, and Abstract Expressionism. His work is characterized by flattened shapes, large areas of unmodulated color, and a focus on everyday subjects such as landscapes, figures, and domestic scenes. Avery played a key role in shaping American modernism, influencing younger artists like Mark Rothko and Adolph Gottlieb.
