Untitled Medium: Watercolor   Condition: Light toning to the paper with minor handling marks around the edges, otherwise in good condition.   Bio:  Milton Avery (1885–1965) was an American modern painter known for his use of simplified forms and harmonious color relationships that bridged American Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Born in Altmar, New York, Avery studied at the Connecticut League of Art Students before settling in New York City. His paintings often depict domestic interiors, landscapes, and portraits reduced to flat planes of color, emphasizing mood and composition over detail. A key influence on later color field painters such as Mark Rothko and Adolph Gottlieb, Avery’s work is recognized for its lyrical abstraction and its role in shaping mid-20th-century American modernism.
