Born in Philadelphia, he studied at the Art Students League in New York and later in Paris under Fernand Léger. Kulicke gained prominence for developing minimalist, modern picture frames that became widely used by major artists and museums during the mid-20th century. As a painter, he is recognized for his intimate still lifes—often featuring flowers, fruit, or simple objects—executed with subtle color and delicate composition. His work reflects a fusion of modern design sensibility and classical restraint.
