Born and active in Lyon, Wegelin studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under Michel Dumas and Jean-Baptiste Poncet. His works often capture everyday subjects and intimate interior scenes rendered with soft light and balanced composition. Influenced by both academic tradition and emerging impressionist sensibilities, Wegelin’s paintings emphasize tonal harmony and atmosphere, embodying the transition between classical realism and modern French painting of his era.
