Frame: 23 1/2” x 30” Image: 14 1/2” x 21”   Condition: Both image and frame are in good condition.   Bio: Lucien Clergue (1934–2014) was a French photographer celebrated for his pioneering work in fine art photography and his role in elevating the medium in postwar Europe. Born in Arles, France, Clergue gained recognition in the 1950s for his poetic black-and-white images of nudes, bullfights, and Mediterranean landscapes. His compositions often combine classical form with modern abstraction, emphasizing texture, shadow, and movement. A close associate of Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau, Clergue played a central role in promoting photographic art, co-founding the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival in 1970. His work is distinguished by its lyrical exploration of beauty, mortality, and the human figure within nature.
