Panos Valsamakis 'Tree of Life' Ceramic Tile Mosaic - Signed by the artist lower center (around the tree).    Dimensions: 13” x 13”   Condition: Various crazing throughout the glaze with minor chips to the tile edges.    Artist Bio:  Born in Kydonies, Asia Minor, Panos Valsamakis (1900-1986) studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille before returning to Greece, where he is widely regarded as the founder of fine-art ceramics. His ceramic tapestries, rooted in Greek folklore yet universally appealing, earned him international acclaim and gold, silver, and bronze medals at major exhibitions. His works are held by the National Gallery in Athens.
