JMI Vox AC30 - Serial No 11004 T (1963/1964) Copper Top Control Panel. Brass Air Vents. Brown Diamond Grille Cloth - Slight Sagging but No Rips or Tears. Blue Vox Speakers - Cones Appear To Have No Damage. Woden Transformers. Date - Can't Say Exactly but Serial Number and Brass Vents Indicate the First Quarter of 1964 or Earlier. Same Owner Since 1976. Used Very Little Since The Mid 1980s (1984/5). Only Home Use Too. Has Not Left the Owners Flat in All Those Years, Until Transporting It To The Auction House This Last Week. Will Require A Full Service By A Suitably Qualified Person Before Use. We Would Strongly Recommend Using An RCD Safety Device Before Plugging Into A Power Source. Forgot To Check When Taking The Photos, But From Memory The Valves Are All Mullard (Maybe 1 Brimar). The 5 Which Are Visible That Is. Never Had The Covers/Casings Off The Other 4. Owner Was A Singer First, Guitarist Second and Has No Technical Knowledge. So Would Never Tamper With Anything Electrical. It Has Always Lived in Blackburn (Home of Mullards Valves). Current Owner and the Previous Owner's Home Town. Red Indicator Light Illuminates When Switched To 'ON'. Starts To Hum Nicely After A Few Moments (A Few Crackles & Pops). Only Left On For 5 Minutes (May 19th 2025 when all the Photos were Taken) Owner No Longer Owns A Guitar So Could Not Test. But When Last Tested About 20 Years Ago 4 Of The 6 Inputs For The Three Channels Were OK, But The Other 2 Squealed & Screeched. Can't Remember Which 2 Inputs They Were. Cosmetically: Much as can be seen in the photos. The cabinet is in good, sturdy order. The Tolex covering has bits of loss to exposed corners, edges and a lengthier/longer re-adhered strip on the upper rear detachable board (To the right of the High Voltage plate - See Photos). Tolex has almost totally gone from the underside (It's basically down to the bare wood under the base). There are other minor marks and grazes here and there, but it is a 60+ year old amp. Some wear & tear is to be expected. All 3 plastic handles are the originals. 2 of them had broken into two halves (happened a lot with Vox handles) which swung/flopped about for years until the current owner 'repaired' them a couple of decades ago. Repaired by inserting a threaded metal bar/dowel into either side of the break and screwing the two halves together until they met, before repositioning them on the amp. The one good/unbroken handle was moved to the centre position and the 2 'repaired' handles to the outer positions. Done for cosmetic reasons mainly, but the amp can still be lifted (carefully) by the outer handles, though we would recommend the centre handle be used for carrying it. Replacement handles are easily sourced online, if deemed necessary. On the whole it is a fine looking vintage amp. Collection would be recommended. The auction house is situated just 1 mile from Junction 5 of the M65 on the outskirts of Blackburn.
