An Art Deco Mahogany Veneered Breakfront Secretary Bookcase with Matching Stool - This early to mid-20th-century breakfront secretary bookcase, dating to the Art Deco period circa 1930-1940, is executed in mahogany veneers over a secondary timber carcase. The piece exhibits characteristic streamlined styling with rounded corners and vertical reeded detailing along the stiles. The central section features a fall-front desk that opens on brass stays to reveal a fitted interior of pigeonholes and a small drawer, with an inset tooled leather writing surface. Below the desk is a cupboard designed to house the accompanying rectangular stool, which features a padded upholstered seat. Flanking the centre are two glazed bookcase doors with astragal mouldings and brass escutcheons. The unit is fitted with cast brass drop handles and includes keys with decorative tassels.
