Mid-20th Century Neoclassical Style Mahogany Finished Writing Desk Attributed to Strongbow - A mid-to-late 20th-century writing desk or side table designed in the Neoclassical revival style, attributed to the British manufacturer Strongbow. The piece is crafted from hardwood with mahogany veneers and a deep mahogany finish, featuring a rectangular top with rounded corners. The frieze contains a single full-width drawer, the front of which is stylised to appear as two separate drawers. Decorative elements include twin brass-toned ring pulls on circular backplates and a central keyhole. The desk is raised on elegant curved X-frame sabre legs with reeded detailing, joined by a central turned stretcher. This form is a refined example of the Directoire revival aesthetic popular in mid-century English cabinet making. 74cm H x 91cm W x 46cm D.
