Royal Doulton, The Toymaker and Silks and Ribbons - A pair of Royal Doulton glazed porcelain bone china figurines from the company's character series. The first, titled The Toymaker (HN 2250, copyright 1958), depicts an elderly bearded man painting a red toy boat, wearing a green vest and blue-sleeved shirt. The second, titled Silks and Ribbons (HN 2017, copyright 1948), features an elderly female vendor with a basket of colourful ribbons, wearing a green chequered shawl and black bonnet. Both pieces bear the green Royal Doulton lion and crown backstamp and MADE IN ENGLAND. The Toymaker includes a small green decorator mark near the base rim, while Silks and Ribbons features a blue handwritten mark, possibly the artist initial B, on the base. Height approximately 15 cm.
