Staffordshire, 'I Am On The Black List' Character Planter - A Staffordshire glazed earthenware character planter or spill vase, modelled as a humorous caricature bust of a man with a ruddy complexion. The figure is depicted wearing a tall black top hat, which serves as the vessel, a yellow polka-dot scarf, a green waistcoat, and a black coat. He holds a circular white placard inscribed in black with the phrase 'I AM ON THE BLACK LIST'. The underside of the base features an impressed 'RD NO' (Registered Design Number), dating to the early 20th century, circa 1906. Height approx. 20 cm.
