Bidspirit auction | Aerozon German Porcelain Twin Owl
Aerozon German Porcelain Twin Owl Novelty Nightlight, Mid-20th Century - A vintage novelty nightlight or table lamp, likely of German origin, depicting a pair of owls perched together. The piece is expertly crafted from glazed porcelain with hand-painted plumage in tones of brown, grey, and cream. A distinctive feature of this model is the inset translucent red glass eyes, designed to emit a warm glow when the internal bulb is illuminated. The underside features a blue underglaze manufacturer's mark consisting of a crown above initials, accompanied by the number 1871. This style of lamp was frequently marketed as a perfume aromiser, where the heat from the bulb would evaporate scented oils placed in a small reservoir, evidenced by the aperture at the top of the larger owl's head. The lamp is fitted with a gold-toned flex and a standard UK three-pin plug. Dimensions: Approximately 15 cm (6 inches) in width at the base.
