A French Art Nouveau Patinated Spelter Easter Egg Trinket Box Joyeuses Pâques c.1900 - A French two-piece cast spelter (régule) egg-shaped trinket box or chocolate container, dating to the early 20th century. The piece is designed in the Art Nouveau style, featuring a dark, oxidised patina throughout. The upper lid is decorated in high relief with a bird in flight amidst clouds and the French inscription Joyeuses Pâques (Happy Easter). The lower section displays a repeating floral and foliate motif, resting upon a flared, lobed base. The interior is unlined and exhibits the natural cast finish of the metal. Height: approximately 8.9 cm (3.5 inches).
