A Large Jerusalem Iznik-Style Ceramic Vase Attributed to David Ohannessian - A large ceramic vase of ovoid form, attributed to the Jerusalem workshops of David Ohannessian, circa early to mid-20th century. The vessel features hand-painted Iznik-style decoration in the Kutahya tradition, showcasing a complex arrangement of stylised floral palmettes, sweeping saz leaves, and delicate blossoms. The decorative scheme is rendered in a classic palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, sage green, and manganese purple set against a cream-coloured ground. A repeating geometric border provides a formal finish to the slightly flared rim. The unglazed, recessed base bears a hand-painted mark in black depicting a crescent surmounted by a stylised character, a known mark associated with the Armenian pottery revival in Jerusalem. This piece exemplifies the synthesis of Ottoman aesthetic traditions and 20th-century craftsmanship. Height: approximately 28 cm (11 inches).
